USONIA: A PILOT
In a retro-futuristic world inspired by the ideas of Frank Lloyd Wright, a hardboiled detective investigates a murder and unravels a conspiracy with the potential to tear his society apart. An architect in the public service, already on an ambitious project to build the tallest tower in the world, is elevated to a lofty position, with new responsibilities and many more enemies. And a disaffected student is recruited by a politician for a dangerous mission, one with the potential to shake his society to its very foundations.
Based on my novel of the same name, USONIA has received accolades from six different contests, including the Austin Film Festival and Filmmatic Inroads Fellowship. It has made the “Top List” on The Black List and the top 6% of projects on Coverfly.
“This pilot answers the question: what would a world look like if it valued aesthetics much more than our own world does? The interesting answers, however, are less seen visually and more experienced via the character work. This leads to the other big win by the writing: the characters feel rich and layered….
“The writer’s instincts toward not only crafting a unique world that offers huge amounts of visual potential for a series but also having interesting cultural implications that will help to develop characters and themes in a compelling way—all rival those of many professionals working today.”
